Kathleen Morrison’s work

I am a architect and took up painting and drawing more seriously on my retirement 8 years ago. I work mostly from photographs and perhaps my architectural background has developed my eye for detail and the challenge of capturing texture, reflections and colour.
Acrylic is my preferred media as it offers me more opportunities to work up a piece, correct mistakes, and develop something over time just by looking and looking and looking, becoming totally absorbed in it which I love.
I often look for a slightly whacky or unusual way of portraying the ordinary or the more recognised image that you usually see.
Currently my work is never larger than A2, but I’m beginning to feel the need to get into larger formats. My work has been exhibited at the Society of Women Artists annual exhibition.
