SUBJECTS  Urban scenes, landscape, the figure

MEDIA  acrylic, ink pen, pastel, pencil and watercolour

I was born and grew up in Putney, south-west London.  After leaving schooI, I studied English and Art at Roehampton Institute.  I worked in the public sector for approximately 20 years before turning full time as an artist towards the end of 2011.  I have a base at Wimbledon Art Studios (WAS) but work on location as much as possible, mainly using watercolour or pastel in a fairly loose, figurative style.  I use pastel pencils and a favourite ink pen for quicker sketches.  London, with its great range of subject matter, often features in my pictures.  I belong to the Hesketh Hubbard Society, a valuable opportunity to draw the life/portrait model which in turn helps with depicting figures in my urban landscapes.

Apart from the twice yearly WAS Open Studios, I have shown work at the following:

  • Art at Clyde & Co. – group exhibition by invitation at the law firm’s offices in Guildford 2010
  • Landmark Art Fair, Teddington 2012 and 2013
  • Chelsea Art Society Open 2012, 2013 and 2014
  • Hampstead Festival, June 2013
  • Pintar Rapido, Kensington and Chelsea, 2013 and 2014
  • Shooting Star CHASE Charity event, 2013 and 2014
  • Sunday Times Watercolour Competition 2013 and 2014
  • Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour Exhibition 2014
