Stuart Stanley’s work

Stuart works mainly in oil and acrylic and his work has developed over the years into an expressive, painterly style using vibrant colours and masterly brush marks. The influence of his theatre background can be seen in his dramatic paintings, which are full of light, colour, energy and atmosphere. A love of drawing and sketching in pencil and charcoal, a strong understanding of artistic practice, and a love of the history of art are the foundations upon which he creates his paintings.

Stuart studied at both Eastbourne and Wimbledon Schools of Art, specialising in theatre design as well as always retaining an interest in fine art.

Stuart is an associate member of The Society of Graphic Fine Art and won the award for the Best Picture in the Exhibition at their 2012 annual show in London. He is Chairman of Surrey Figurative Artists and also a member of Leatherhead Art Club and Dorking Group of Artists. His work is held in many private and corporate collections in Great Britain and abroad.
